Chapter 1118

?Chapter 1118: 344. Evolution from Old to New_2

“They established the Metal Creation Group in outer space together, hid behind the scenes, and manipulated mortal life forms to serve themselves.

“When the ‘Knight’ plane core appeared in the inner cosmos, they forcibly broke through the Star Palace Barrier, entered the inner cosmos, seized the Fire of St. Dillan, and began their own Era of Dragons.

“The history of the Dragon Era that you read about in the Una Ring Chronicle should have been the ‘Knight’s’ history, but it was completely usurped by the dragons and turned into their history.”

Noland Lee raised an eyebrow but did not speak.

He had a premonition that today, some questions would be answered.

The Assassin Angel said:

...

“After the Dragon-System Deities returned to the inner cosmos, they absorbed the radiance of the Fire of St. Dillan and rapidly restored their strength.

“To propagate their race, they began building the ‘Dragon Slumber Tower,’ an extraordinary structure capable of transforming various life forms into dragon-like creatures.

“But the dragons underestimated the difficulty of constructing the ‘Dragon Slumber Tower.’

“Before they completed the ‘Dragon Slumber Tower,’ the Doomsday Disaster, which occurs once every thousand years in the inner cosmos, erupted.

“The Star Gods intended to use the regularly occurring Doomsday Disaster to drive the plane cores from the inner cosmos to outer space, making room for new plane cores.

“Although the dragons had recovered some power, they were still unable to stop the Doomsday Disaster set by the Star Gods. They had to find an alternative way to try to save the ‘Dragon Slumber Tower.’

After a few seconds of contemplation, the Assassin Angel added:

“I do not know the specifics of the dragons’ plan, but judging from the current state of the inner cosmos, the dragons exploited a loophole in the Doomsday Disaster and preserved a part of the ‘Dragon Slumber Tower.’ This extraordinary structure, left with only its binding magic intact, then became what your wizards see as the Ascension Fortress.”

“What loophole did the dragons exploit?” Noland asked.

The Assassin Angel replied:

“The Doomsday Disaster exists to force the plane cores out of the inner cosmos. If a plane core leaves the inner cosmos before the disaster strikes, then the impending Doomsday Disaster will be averted because there is no plane core present in the inner cosmos.”

Noland’s eyes widened slightly as he inwardly exclaimed:

“So, by that logic, if the dragons took the ‘Knight’ plane core out to outer space, wouldn’t that stop the Doomsday Disaster from destroying the ‘Dragon Slumber Tower’?”

“Yes, that’s what the dragons thought. Before the disaster struck, they opened a passage to outer space inside the tower, hoping to send the ‘Knight’ plane core out there. Many dragons, including the White Ancestral Dragon, stayed inside the tower to oversee the ceremony, with the only exception being the Metal Ancestor Dragon, who for some reason left the inner cosmos on his own.”

The Assassin Angel continued:

“The Doomsday Disaster did indeed change due to the actions of the dragons, but they underestimated the wisdom of the Star Gods. The disaster, originally meant to clear all things from the inner cosmos, instead turned its focus on the tower and the dragons within.

“In the end, the dragons suffered heavy casualties, with only the White Ancestral Dragon surviving by a narrow margin. The tower also suffered severe damage and became the now Spinning Continent. The ‘Knight’ plane core failed to leave the inner cosmos and fell into a critical condition, leaving behind scarce knightly legacies within the inner cosmos.

“After the disaster, the ‘Wizard’ plane core emerged, and wizardly legacies appeared on this land that had seen both dragons and knights.”

The Assassin Angel let out a rare sigh:

“The Star Gods decreed that the destiny of life in the inner cosmos be written by the highest-ranking Extraordinary entity.

“If there were no other extraordinary elements in the inner cosmos when the ‘Wizard’ plane core emerged, then the first Extraordinary being it created would be the destiny writer of this world.

“However, when the ‘Wizard’ plane core came into being, the White Ancestral Dragon was still clinging to life inside the tower, and it became the writer of destiny for life forms.

“It schemed, using destiny to guide all wizards who reached star-level to meet their end in the Mass Wizard Tombs and return to the ‘Wizard’ plane core. In this way, no wizard of a higher rank than it would ever emerge in this world.”

Noland Lee listened with furrowed brows.

The White Ancestral Dragon’s tactics were rather despicable…

If he hadn’t encountered the Assassin Angel, Noland Lee would always believe that becoming a Star Witch meant entering outer space, not returning to the plane core.

It must be said, the White Ancestral Dragon’s strategy of using wizardly ascension as bait to induce higher-level wizards to sacrifice themselves was incredibly cunning.

“The trouble caused by the dragons doesn’t end there,” said the Assassin Angel:

“You should know that before the dragons caused chaos, there wouldn’t have been such a thing as ‘Pollution Zones’ within the Inner Cosmos.”

“In an ideal state, there would only be one Plane Core within the Inner Cosmos. Only after this Plane Core leaves the Inner Cosmos would another Plane Core appear. All other Plane Cores, whether located in the Outer Space or drifting across the Barren Universe, could not exert any influence over the Inner Cosmos.”

“The dragons used ceremonies to open gaps into the Outer Space, causing irreversible damage to the Star Palace Barrier. Because of this weakening, Pollution Zones started to appear frequently.”

“If it hadn’t been for the dragons’ precedent in opening the Outer Space Gap, it would have been impossible to encounter any Pollution Zone or Outer Space Gap within the Inner Cosmos.”

Noland Lee rubbed his chin:

“It sounds as if the dragons have made a wound in an airtight barrier that’s difficult to heal.”

“Yes,” the Assassin Angel said:

“Senati could easily repair the damage to the Star Palace Barrier. But as I surmised earlier, Senati is still alive but in a state where it cannot act, hence it couldn’t repair the Star Palace Barrier in time.”

Noland Lee had a very agile mind.

He quickly thought of even more details:

“Your Excellency, if the dragons hadn’t damaged the Star Palace Barrier first, then wouldn’t the ‘Giant’ Plane Core behind the Dusk Giants have always been unable to obtain the Fire of St. Dillan? It would forever wander the Barren Universe, never able to establish its own channel to the Inner Cosmos.”

“Do you know why the Star God divided the cosmos into the Inner Cosmos and Outer Space?” the Assassin Angel retorted.

Without waiting for Noland Lee to respond, the Assassin Angel said:

“The Inner Cosmos is the territory of the deities of the Supreme Star Palace, closest to the Fire of St. Dillan. The Outer Space is the living area for the life forms under the deities of the Supreme Star Palace, only given the power of the Fire of St. Dillan by divine grant. That is where the authority of deities lies. The Barren Universe is the place of exile for all Plane Cores that resist the Starry Sky.”

“The Plane Core behind the Dusk Giants, because it was unwilling to join the Supreme Star Palace, was exiled by the Star God to the Barren Universe, forever barred from the radiance of the Fire of St. Dillan.

“But you’re right, if the dragons hadn’t damaged the Star Palace Barrier first, the ‘Giant’ Plane Core would have only drifted in the Barren Universe with no chance to touch the Inner Cosmos.”

The Assassin Angel’s words grew slightly colder:

“The mission bestowed upon me by the Star God is to defend the order of the Star Palace. I will kill the Metal Ancestor Dragon and the White Ancestral Dragon, destroy the Dark Divine Cult, search for Senati and Gilenz’s whereabouts, and at all costs, reshape the Star-disc Plan.”

Noland Lee pursed his lips.

The Assassin Angel clearly assumed the role of a protector of order, and a very resolute one at that.

However, Its current predicament severely limited Its ability to act.

It was uncertain what kind of ripples such a character would cause in Outer Space if It were to break free from the Main Brain Controller’s seal…

Noland Lee shook his head slightly in contemplation.

He didn’t possess the convictions of the Assassin Angel.

He was just a small figure longing to leave the Inner Cosmos.

His prime concern was how to keep his friends and family alive.

The Assassin Angel might have guessed at Noland Lee’s thoughts and asked:

“Do you think I’m an extremist who only follows order?”

Noland Lee silently nodded.

The Assassin Angel continued:

“No, you’re wrong.

“I should have eliminated the Dusk Giants, preventing the ‘Giant’ Plane Core from absorbing the light after the Fire of Dillan. But I made a deal with it. I will allow the ‘Giant’ Plane Core to absorb the light of the Fire of St. Dillan; in return, it has to help me escape from the Main Brain Controller quickly.

“Isn’t that ironic? When the Star God vanished, the old foes under the previous order became the helpers of me, a defender of order. And those who lived under the old order, despite reaping all they should have from it, turned into destroyers of order.”
