The Strongest Guild Kidnapped Me

Chapter 126

Chapter 126

“How am I supposed to untangle my tail?”
Gyeoul fiddled with her bound tail, trying to loosen it, but it wouldn't budge. She had only wrapped it around once, but it clung to itself as if glued.

“No way I can do this on my own. Guess I’ll need some help from wise Sophia.”

“Sophia, can you help me?”

“What is it? Can’t get your tail undone?”

“Yes. It’s not even tied tightly, but it won’t come loose.”

“Hm... Well…” Sophia’s gaze shifted to Saebyeok, who sat at the table with an expressionless face.

“Do you know something about this?”

“Yes, if you give it time, your tail will loosen on its own.”

Time would fix it, she said. This happened once before, too. Since Sophia had never been wrong, Gyeoul decided to trust her.

“Well, we’re stuck together again.”

“Yep.”

Saebyeok swayed her own tail, causing Gyeoul’s bound tail to sway along with it. Levinas, watching the pendulum-like movement, swayed her head side to side, mimicking the rhythm.

“Hey, Levinas, should we tie your tail up too?”

“Hmm… Levinas’s tail is a bit short for tying, isn’t it?”

“No way! Levinas actually has a long tail!”

“Long?”

“Yep!” Levinas pulled on her fluffy cotton-ball tail, and to everyone’s shock, it stretched out like slime.

“What the…”

“...!”

A horned rabbit’s tail… can stretch like that? Saebyeok, visibly startled, had her ears and tail fur standing up, though her face remained as expressionless as ever.

“Levinas, how does your tail stretch like that?”

“It’s normal for horned rabbits, y’know?”

“Re... really?”

Gyeoul turned to Sophia for confirmation, and she nodded.

“Horned rabbits have a hidden inner tail.”

“I see…”

All this time, I thought it was just a round, fluffy cotton tail. It was actually just the tip? I may not have been as shocked as Saebyeok, but I was surprised nonetheless.

“So, can we tie it up now?”

“Sure. With this length, I think we can manage…”

Wait a second. Why do we even need to tie it up? I trailed off, my gaze wandering as I hesitated, and Saebyeok started toying with our tails.

After about ten seconds—really, not long—she suddenly raised her hands with a shout.

“Done.”

“You tied it! You tied Levinas’s tail!”

“Yep.”

Now, all three of our tails were bound together. We had to face in different directions like some three-headed creature.

“Sophia, this is a disaster.”

“...Don’t worry. Time will solve it.”

“Right…”

I sighed, deciding it was best to ignore the situation and continue what I was doing. As I picked up my pen and looked down at my notebook, the front door opened, and Midsummer appeared.

“Hey, sis, are y…?”

Midsummer’s eyes widened as she looked down at our entangled tails. She covered her mouth, but the dimples in her cheeks gave away her laughter.

“Hey, Yeoreum! Levinas’s tail is tied up!”

“Is that so? Impressive!”

“Yeah!”

Heehee. Levinas giggled mischievously as she grabbed the remote from the table. After checking the time, she quickly turned on the television.

“Oh, it’s time for *King of Animals*.”

Saebyeok’s eyes sparkled with excitement. She loved *King of Animals* just as much as Levinas did. She was so excited her tail wagged even faster than usual.

“Oh, Gyeoul likes *King of Animals* too? I didn’t think you were into cartoons.”

“Me?”

“Yep. Your tail is wagging.”

But that’s not me moving it; it’s just swaying along with Saebyeok’s tail. My eyebrows furrowed in frustration.

“This isn’t me. Saebyeok is the one shaking it.”

“Hehe, just kidding. I know Saebyeok’s the one holding it and wagging it.”

“Saebyeok?”

“Mhm. She’s got it gripped in her tail.”

“Huh?”

Wait… it wasn’t tied? She was just holding onto it? At that moment, I felt the tail loosen slightly.

‘Ah.’

I realized then. Saebyeok was focused on *King of Animals*, and that’s why she’d let go. I finally understood what Sophia meant when she said it would loosen on its own with time.

‘So, Saebyeok was just playing around, huh.’

I considered pulling my tail away while they were watching the show, but decided against it. Honestly, I didn’t mind it as much as I thought.

**That evening.**

Levinas was wandering around the park just before sunset, holding a long stick in one hand.

“Mighty hero horned rabbit!”

Singing the theme song of *King of Animals*, Levinas kept repeating the lyrics about the hero horned rabbit.

“Why isn’t Gyeoul here?”

She was told he’d come soon if she waited, but he was nowhere in sight. Levinas pricked up her ears to listen for him.

“Aaah!”

“Muahahaha!”

Nearby, a woman’s scream echoed, followed by the sinister laughter of a man.

“Oh no.”

It was the laugh of a villain. He was definitely bullying an innocent person. Levinas looked down at the stick in her hand.

If she were the hero horned rabbit, she’d go fight, right? She had a weapon, so there was no need to be scared.

“Take this!”

With a yell, Levinas charged toward the sound, raising her stick high, only to witness a strange sight for the first time in her life.

Men and women were throwing cake at each other, faces and bodies covered in it as they laughed and played. Levinas didn’t understand why they would waste precious cake like that.

‘They’re laughing?!’

If they’re laughing, then it’s not bullying. It was probably just like the people who threw eggs and flour at each other for fun. Levinas, who had been poised to strike, relaxed her arm.

It’s good no one’s being bullied. I’ll just go look for Gyeoul. Just as she was about to walk away, she sniffed the air.

“Oh!”

Pieces of sweet cake were scattered all around the bushes, some large pieces too.

‘Thrown food!’

Levinas remembered the time when people threw eggs and flour. She’d taken that home to cook and eat, so surely it was okay to gather this cake too.

With a dash, she rushed to the bushes, crouching down to pick up pieces of cake and eat them.

“Yum-yum.”

The sweet whipped cream! The fluffy sponge cake! Thanks to the grassy flavor from the bushes, it tasted even better—just the way a horned rabbit would like it.

“Wow!”

Meeting people who threw cakes! They must be the richest people in the world! Levinas crawled around the bushes, picking up every piece she could find and savoring them one by one.

She was so engrossed in eating that she didn’t even notice the people celebrating the birthday party watching her.

“Um, hey, kid…?”

A man lightly tapped Levinas on the shoulder.

“Huh?!”

Levinas looked up, her mouth covered in whipped cream with bits of grass stuck to it. The man, Hyun-woo, looked at her in disbelief.

“Why are you eating what’s on the ground… Here, have a fresh one.”

He held out half of a cake. But Levinas firmly shook her head.

“Free food? No way!”

“Uh… really?”

“Yep! But if you throw it, I can eat it! Throw it on the ground!”

“...What?”

What is this kid talking about? Hyun-woo felt a bit dizzy.

“Why do you want me to throw it?”

“Because it’s fun!”

“Fu…fun?”

“Yep! Levinas trades fun for food! That’s the deal!”

“Oh…”

Who on earth finds joy in throwing food to kids? Hyun-woo couldn’t even close his gaping mouth.

“Hey, Levinas has a question.”

“Uh, what…?”

“Why do you throw cakes? Are you super rich?!”

“Nah, it’s just something we do for birthdays…”

“Throwing cake for birthdays?!”

Levinas’s eyes went wide in amazement. She couldn’t understand why people would throw such expensive treats.

“What do you do on your birthday, then?”

Hyun-woo’s question made Levinas think back. She remembered how she got scolded last time for not meeting her quota. Having never celebrated a birthday party, she had no concept of its significance.

“Levinas worked on her birthday! Dug up potatoes, but didn’t finish, so I got scolded!”

“That’s… terrible.”

What kind of jerk does that? Hyun-woo swore to himself that he’d beat up anyone who forced a kid to work on their birthday.

“On birthdays…”

Levinas was about to ask why people celebrate when she pricked up her ears. She heard the footsteps of her favorite person.

“Gyeoul!”

“Sorry, did you wait long?”

“Nope, just a little!”

“Okay. Sorry to keep you waiting even a little.”

Gyeoul approached, her tail gently swaying. Unable to hold back any longer, Levinas dashed over to her.

“Gyeoul! What do you do on your birthday?”

“Birthday?”

“Yeah

! Villains throw cake on their birthdays!”

Some people might find fun in that, but Gyeoul was different. She didn’t even know when her own birthday was.

“I don’t have a birthday.”

“You don’t?!”

“Nope. I don’t know when it is, so I don’t really do anything.”

“What?! Same as Levinas! Levinas knows her birthday but doesn’t do anything for it either!”

Levinas happily leaped up, then turned to Hyun-woo with her chest puffed out.

“See?! Doing nothing on birthdays is right!”

“...Oh dear.”

Hyun-woo clutched the symbol on his chest. For the first time in his life, this devout man felt himself questioning his faith in the heavens.
